The youth ministry at Wellington Methodist Church exists to help students in 6th-12th grades know and follow Jesus through reading and studying Scripture, growing in Christian community, and learning how to apply their faith to everyday life. We want students to know that they have a place where they are loved, known, and encouraged to grow in their relationship with Christ.

We offer two weekly opportunities for students to connect and grow: Wednesday evenings (Youth Group) from 6:30–8:00 p.m. and Sunday mornings (Life Groups) from 10:00–11:00 a.m. Through Bible study, small groups, worship, games, and meaningful conversations, students are encouraged to ask questions, build friendships, and take the next step in their faith.

But youth ministry is about more than just what happens each week. Throughout the year, students have opportunities to grow together through church camps, retreats, mission and service opportunities, and special events and trips. From our annual Young Christians Weekend trip to Silver Dollar City to summer church camps and retreats, we believe some of the most meaningful moments of discipleship happen when students get to experience faith and community together outside of the normal routine.

Our goal is simple: to help students know Jesus, love His Word, live out their faith, and become lifelong followers of Christ. Whether a student has grown up in the church or is just beginning to explore what it means to follow Jesus, there is a place for them here.

Wednesday Night/Youth Group

Youth Group is our larger gathering of the two weekly meetings. We meet each Wednesday night from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm in our Sanctuary. To allow each student to share about their life, ask questions, and engage with Scripture, we eventually divide students into small groups.

We kick off Wednesday nights with large-group worship before breaking into small groups to connect, share, and read and study Scripture together. At the end of the night, we gather back in the sanctuary for a time of recap and reflection, followed by an opportunity for students to receive prayer or spend time at the altar.

Once a month, we have a game night where students can relax, have fun, mingle, and enjoy fellowship with one another.

Sunday Morning/Life Group

Each Sunday, we gather between services for a smaller and more informal time together. We meet from 10:00- 11:00 am in room 105, on the main level. We usually begin by catching up on how everyone’s week has gone before diving into Scripture.

This is a great opportunity for students to talk about their faith, ask questions, and learn from one another as we study God’s Word together. To conclude our time, we spend time praying for the week ahead.

Events

Each year, the youth ministry hosts a variety of additional events and trips. Our annual trip to Young Christians Weekend usually takes place in April. In the winter, we typically offer some kind of retreat. Of course, summer consists of fun gatherings and several opportunities for church camp!
